Compassion in Action
“The true measure of any society can be found in how it treats its most vulnerable members.”
Mahatma Gandhi
Our pillar of Compassion in Action is one we are most proud of because in this section we have challenged ourselves to reach out to the innermost light in us to best serve the most vulnerable among us. On a monthly basis we will be identifying acts of kindness that will help instil faith in all of our humanity.

Homeless Blanket Drive
One of the most unforgettable of these was our blanket drive to the homeless. When we found out that a cold front was approaching and temperatures could drop to as low as -3° Celsius we knew we had to act!
We drove over two hours looking for the homeless and handing out two meter blankets, sandwiches and chocolates with messages such as “You’re Awesome” to lift their spirits. We met late that evening Brighton, a homeless man, who mentioned to us that he is a mechanic and was in need of tools such as spanners etc to continue his trade of fixing taxis and some shoes as his existing ones were torn. He thanked us for thinking of them and seeing them as human beings also deserving of love, empathy and consideration. We promised to come back with the items he asked for but have not seen him since. We couldn’t contact him as he did not have a mobile phone we did however highlight his plight on social media for the broader community to help him when they see him. Since we have not seen him since on that William Nicol drive traffic stop close to Dainfern, it is our hope that he was noticed by empathetic people who gave him employment opportunities. If you have seen him, please contact as we want to get him new shoes and the tools he needed to continue his trade contact us on getinvolved@housemazibukofoundation.org.
